Java desktop links of the week, December 6

A very quiet week this week, with only four links to talk about. Let's just get into it :-)

Swing

  • Mark Fortner blogs about 'If not Swing, then what?'. In this post he discusses what he believes the necessary features of a UI toolkit are, or as he puts it "So it really boils down to this: How can I create a UI that looks good, but doesn’t require me to exercise the aesthetic part of my brain?  What would the basic requirements be for such a framework?"
  • Gerrit Grunwald recently presented at the Java User Group of Dusseldorf on 'Graphical rich components'. You can view the slidedeck, and he also has a webstart link to start a test app he uses to test his Steel Series library.
  • A number of people emailed me this week about the J7Goodies product, a commercial library from Strixcode. From the webst get into it :-)
